Objective

Relaunch a national airline, rebuild public trust following reputational challenges, and generate demand for inaugural routes across five Nigerian cities.

Background

NG Eagle Airlines was preparing to re-enter Nigeria's highly competitive aviation market under new leadership. While awareness was important, the greater challenge was rebuilding confidence in a brand that had already experienced a difficult public launch.

Our responsibility extended beyond marketing a new airline—we needed to restore credibility, generate excitement and reassure passengers that the business was ready for a fresh start.

The Challenge

The airline carried reputational baggage before its relaunch. During campaign preparations, an ownership dispute involving the original logo further complicated public perception.

Launching a brand is difficult.

Launching a brand people have already questioned is significantly harder.

Success depended on replacing skepticism with trust.

Discovery & Insights

Our research revealed two important truths.

First, airline loyalty in Nigeria is largely built on trust rather than price. Passengers are far more likely to return to airlines they believe are reliable.

Second, airlines often hide the people responsible for the experience. Customers rarely know the pilots, cabin crew or operational staff behind a successful flight.

We believed introducing the people behind the airline would humanize the brand and make trust easier to build.

Strategy

Rather than relying solely on promotional advertising, we built the launch around transparency and human connection.

The campaign focused on introducing the people behind NG Eagle while documenting the customer experience throughout the launch journey. We trained members of the flight crew to confidently appear on camera, produced authentic behind-the-scenes content and partnered with micro-creators to generate organic conversations around the launch.

Our objective was simple:

Replace skepticism with familiarity.

Execution

  • 01Planned launch campaigns across Lagos, Benin, Port Harcourt, Sokoto and Yola.
  • 02Produced social media content before, during and after each inaugural flight.
  • 03Captured pilots, cabin crew and airport operations through photography and video.
  • 04Created campaign assets for digital channels.
  • 05Traveled with the launch team to document customer experiences in real time.
  • 06Responded to misinformation by publishing continuous, authentic coverage throughout the campaign.

Results

  • 01Successfully launched across five Nigerian cities.
  • 02Supported inaugural flights carrying more than 90 passengers.
  • 03Generated positive customer feedback throughout the launch.
  • 04Attracted high-profile attention, including support from the Governor of Edo State during the Benin launch.
  • 05Helped shift public perception by consistently showcasing authentic customer experiences throughout the relaunch period.

Key Takeaways

Launching a product doesn't end when customers arrive—it evolves in real time.

During the campaign, misinformation spread quickly online. Rather than responding defensively, we focused on publishing authentic experiences faster than false narratives could spread.

That experience reinforced my belief that consistency and transparency remain two of the strongest tools in reputation management.

If I were doing this today

Today I'd extend the launch with

  • TikTok creators
  • Customer referral programme
  • Lifecycle email automation
  • User-generated content
  • Community management

to sustain momentum after launch.
